What is the Kentucky Society of Healthcare Engineers?
The Kentucky Society of Healthcare Engineers (KSHE) is a professional society devoted exclusively to the education, development and expansion of skills and standards of the Environment of Care discipline as performed in healthcare facilities.
KSHE's members are those professionals who are interested in personal advancement and who engage in one or more of the following healthcare team responsibilities:
- Plant Operations
- Plant Engineering
- Safety Management
- Clinical Engineering
- Facility Manager
- Security
- Life Safety
- Risk Management
- Related Healthcare Fields
- Infection Control
What does KSHE do for its members?
Regularly scheduled educational meeting on such topics as engineering management, energy conservation, preventive maintenance, managing a medical equipment program, electrical safety and codes and standards updates. An annual statewide conference is held to learn the latest information on current issues from the experts and to exchange ideas with society members from across the state. Also, members are provided with an official list of all members, officers, committees and sponsors.
How does KSHE benefit the profession?
KSHE activities help members further develop their professional abilities and provides opportunities for members to exchange ideas and keep abreast of the discipline through its meetings and contact with members.
KSHE offers a Certified Healthcare Engineer program to provide recognition for members who excel, and sponsors programs designed to encourage its members to participate in industry professional certifications, such as Certified Healthcare Facilities Manager (CHFM) and Certified Healthcare Protection Administrator (CHPA).
Who is eligible for KSHE membership?
Membership in the society is available to those individuals who are active in the field of healthcare engineering, and related healthcare fields. Healthcare engineering disciplines include managing, operating and maintaining the physical plant facilities, communication and biomedical equipment and systems in healthcare facilities.
Membership in the society becomes effective upon recommendation of the secretary and approval by the KSHE Board of Trustees or a completed application form and receipt by the secretary of the specified dues.
